Dive Nanaimo! British Columbia Canada is rated among the top ten cold water dive destinations in the world. See what we have to offer and don’t forget to bring your camera.
Vancouver Island has some of the best cold water diving in the world.
Nanaimo has both shore dive sites and boat charters to offer. There are several good shore diving sites just north of town in Nanoose Bay great for all levels of divers and are easy dive sites for those unfamiliar with shore dives or cold water diving.
Summer is tourist season and along with the warm weather can come reduced visibility. So, you may not see as far underwater, but there are still all kinds of life to discover up close and personal.
Our winter diving is where its at for the best visibility of the year and less crowded dive sites (most days).
Night diving presents a different feel to the usual dive site and offers a different variety of life to see. We have many underwater critters and the live changes with the seasons and the sites change between day and night.
The wrecks off the coast of Nanaimo
Offer rewarding deep dives on our beautiful wrecks.
Experience our artificial reefs. We have three in the immediate vicinity of Nanaimo; The Saskatchewan, The Cape Breton and the RivTow Lion. The Saskatchewan and the Cape are very good dives for those experienced advanced open water certified divers. The RivTow is open water certified friendly on the main deck (50ft).
The local divers
Most local divers are dry suit divers, but…
Diving in a wetsuit can be done. Promise. Although most of us dive in drysuits, a lot of us were once upon a time trained in wetsuits. We did it. You can do it. Or, if you like, when you book your dives, ask us about taking a PADI drysuit certification course.
Diving Nanaimo is a year round activity.
Some of our local divers dive every week all year long even if we get a bit of snow. What an experience it is to surface from a dive warm in your drysuit, while snowflakes land on your mask and hood.
Or remember the experience of surfacing from a bright night dive. You’ll always remember the glow of a full moon penetrating the water and reaching you underwater.
Have you ever seen it rain from below the surface? Watch rain drops hit the surface above your head.
Or suddenly drop below bad vis and the site opens up and becomes crystal clear.
Every time we dive it’s a different experience.
